Ian Hibberd
Managing Director
Ian Hibberd has served as Managing Director for over 20 years, leading the company with a clear focus on strategic growth, operational excellence, and long-term client relationships. He oversees all major business functions, ensuring the company consistently delivers high-quality workmanship whilst keeping sight of the companies vision. Ian is known for his steady leadership style, commitment to continuous improvement, and ability to balance commercial priorities with the needs of employees and customers alike.
Ian has shaped the company’s development from a small operation into a respected provider and has doubled the number of staff employed by DVSF over the last 8 years. Beginning his career as an apprentice, he is a time-served plater and Ian brings a hands-on understanding of the industry that shapes his approach to both people and projects. His practical background gives him a grounded perspective on the realities of workshop and site work, strengthening his ability to make informed decisions that support both operational needs and workforce wellbeing.
Ian Bowler
Health, Safety, Quality Manager & RWC
Ian Bowler is the companies Health, Safety and Quality Manager and Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC). He oversees the company’s compliance, safety culture, and welding quality standards, Ian leads the development of safety systems and welding procedures. Specializing in compliance with industry standard and implementing procedures compliant with new and evolving standards, his approach centres on clear communication, and continuous improvement across all areas of the business which has played a key role in helping the company achieve ASME IX status.
With decades of experience in the world of fabrication and welding, Ian has held health and safety positions with companies such as Balfor Beaty Rail and Gascoyne & Beever, he currently holds a NEBOSH General Certificate and Responsible Welding Coordinator certifications and since joining DVSF mid 2014 Ian has played a pivotal role in DVSFs success with regard to Safety and Quality. He has over seen the renewal of our ISO9001 Certification year on year and implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) which helped DVSF achieve their ISO45001 Certification. Under his leadership DVSF achieved an AFR of 0 for the first time in 2018.
Daniel Clarke
Health & Safety Advisor
Dan is responsible for supporting the team with project planning, risk assessment, and the implementation of new safe systems of work. He plays a key role in driving continuous improvement and promoting the overall occupational health of employees. Specialising in hazard identification and risk mitigation, Dan conducts weekly on-site audits to ensure safe working conditions and prevent exposure to harm. With a long-standing passion for improving workplace safety, he is committed to creating safer, healthier environments for his colleagues.
A time-served fabricator and welder with more than a decade of hands-on industry experience, Dan brings a practical understanding of worksite realities that strengthens his approach to risk management. Before stepping into his current role, he completed his IOSH Managing Safely certification and supported day-to-day operations, including, leading an eight-month on-site project installing a flood defence system. In 2024, Dan transitioned into health and safety full time, and over the past 18 months he has achieved both his NEBOSH General Certificate and the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
Adam Poole
Works Director
As Works Director, Adam oversees day-to-day operations, project delivery, and team coordination, ensuring that fabrication and installation work is carried out safely and efficiently. Adam brings a modern, collaborative leadership style that motivates teams and supports a positive working culture. His focus on communication, problem-solving, and team development helps maintain smooth operations and builds lasting relationships with clients. Driven and ambitious, Adam has clear visions of progressing even further along the management path, continuing to develop his skills while contributing to the long-term growth and success of the company.
A time-served plater with 18 years in the company, Adam has built his career from the workshop floor upwards, gaining a deep, practical understanding of fabrication processes, workflow management, and site requirements. Over his tenure, Adam has played a key role in developing the company’s capabilities, supporting staff progression, and ensuring that projects are delivered with precision, safety, and a strong team spirit. Adam currently holds the IOSH Managing Safely certification as well as the Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate from CITB. These qualifications underpin his proactive approach to risk management.
Robert Smith
Technical Director
Robert Smith is DVSF’s Technical Director, with a strong focus on structural steel, heavy plate fabrication, design, and repair. A time-served plater, he has a wealth of experience in the steel industry, including major repair work on ladles and other critical equipment. This expertise, combined with his creative vision, makes Robert an invaluable member of the team, providing customers with bespoke solutions and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards. Committed to fostering a culture of workplace safety, Robert holds the IOSH Managing Safely certification.
Since joining DVSF in 2008, Robert has brought nearly 40 years of experience in the fabrication and welding industry to DVSF. His extensive background spans structural steelwork, heavy plate fabrication, and complex repair projects, giving him the knowledge and skills to navigate challenging technical and operational environments with confidence. His combination of deep industry experience, practical expertise, and meticulous attention to detail makes him a trusted authority in fabrication and welding.
Sue Hibberd
Accounts Manager
Sue is DVSF’s Accounts Manager with a strong focus on transparent budgeting, financial control, and efficient day-to-day financial management. Known for her exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, she ensures the company’s financial processes run smoothly while supporting clear and informed decision-making. Her friendly, approachable manner paired with her professionalism makes Sue a trusted point of support for employees, directors, and clients alike.
Since joining DVSF in 2019, Sue has become an integral member of the team, bringing valuable experience in financial administration and budget management. Her commitment to maintaining accurate, well-structured financial systems plays a key role in supporting the company’s continued growth and long-term success.
Jack Sylvester
Pipework Director
Jack is a highly skilled Pipework Director with a strong focus on hydraulic and high-pressure pipework. A pipefitter and coded welder by trade, he combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, emphasizing precision, efficiency, and collaboration. Known for his relentless drive for personal and professional growth, Jack ensures teams consistently deliver high-quality, safe, and reliable piping solutions. Committed to workplace safety, he holds the IOSH Managing Safely certification, reflecting his dedication to fostering a strong safety culture across all projects.
Jack brings extensive international experience, having worked on complex pipework projects offshore and in places such as Saudi Arabia. His background of installation, and maintenance of critical piping systems in challenging environments, allows him to navigate technical and logistical complexities with confidence. This combination of hands-on expertise, global experience, and leadership acumen positions him as a trusted authority in the pipework field.
Shane Marks
Pipework Director
Shane is DVSF’s Pipework Director with a specialist focus on gas pipework and gas safety. A coded welder to ASME IX, Shane is on the Gas Safe Register and holds certification in the installation and maintenance of gas systems, including oxygen. He is also trained and competent in the testing and purging of non-domestic gas pipework. This experience and training, combined with his deep technical expertise, allow him to ensure all projects are delivered to the highest safety and quality standards. Shane’s strong commitment to safe working environments is further demonstrated by his IOSH Managing Safely certification.
Since joining DVSF in 2021, Shane has brought extensive experience in gas systems and specialist pipework, contributing significantly to the successful delivery of complex and safety-critical projects. His blend of practical skill, technical authority, and safety-driven leadership makes him a trusted expert in gas pipework and high-integrity installations.
Ryan Howe
Machine Shop Manager
Ryan is DVSF’s Machine Shop Manager, a dedicated and hands-on leader who often works on the tools alongside his team. He specialises in bespoke production using CNC machines, lathes, and millers, and his expertise ensures DVSF can offer full turnkey solutions to customers. Committed to nurturing talent, Ryan has taken on three apprentices over the last three years, reflecting his strong belief in investing in youth and skills development.
Since joining DVSF, Ryan has played a key role in ensuring the machine shop operates efficiently and to the highest standards. His deep practical knowledge, combined with his leadership and mentoring skills, allows him to support his team in tackling complex projects and delivering precision-engineered solutions.
